I read this back in April after receiving an advanced copy from Rachel. I posted my review on Goodreads then, but I just can’t wait until the book is released to post it here!
5 stars are not enough to explain the greatness of Rachel Harris’ new release. The Fine Art of Pretending gives the reader a glimpse into a teen girl’s mind. I know that my teen years were a very trying time of self discovery. Aly no longer wants to be seen as someone who is looking for a serious relationship. She wants guys to see her as desirable and fun. In order to accomplish this task she feels she must change the way she dresses and acts. In fact, she is only pretending to be someone else. She is pretending to be like the popular girls and it begins to work. She catches the eye of a certain guy and she realizes she has accomplished her task. But shouldn’t she be happy? Is this what she wanted or has it cost her a deep friendship that cannot be recovered? Aly has definitely changed, but not the way she thought she would.
