My rating: 5 of 5 stars
In this new dystopian series by Lisa T. Bergen, one finds adventure, self worth, and that love does not play by the rules. Just because a romance is forbidden it does not mean it is not felt. This story introduces us to a world where people are called to a purpose. They do not decide how their lives will unfold. They must answer the call, whatever it may be, whenever it comes. It is, after all, the only thing they’ve been trained for their entire lives. While doing what they were called for, Andriana and Ronan must fight through their own emotions in order to fulfill their task.
I really found myself experiencing the story through Andriana’s eyes. She is thrown into something so important and dangerous at such a young age. Dri has been trained for this, but it doesn’t change the fact that leaving her parents isn’t easy. Not only must she travel into unknown circumstances, she has to trust new people she meets with her life. And she must protect them and the cause no matter the cost because it is what the Maker wants.
Although I wouldn’t want to be in their position, I found myself not wanting the story to end. My new favorite dystopian series. Bring on book two!
